In picture three, the beautiful be-spectacled blonde stands out in a Pendleton The Portland Collection Timberline Jacquard Coat in Tan/Red (that I am IN LOVE WITH.)

Nail Rings – Nail Armour – Battle Talons

I’ve oohed and ahhed before over nail armour (and a DIY crystal version, here) … Today’s nail rings are a little bit terrifying, and a lot a bit fierce.  Would it be fun rocking a gilded pointed finger for a night? Heck, yeah.  But I’m not envisioning a long term future for the glitzy battle talons.

Are you jumping on the gilded fingernail bandwagon, or are these better for show?

My two cents:  I think I would rock these crazy metal pointers (mostly because i think it’d be totally fun to wear!), just not sure how long the phase would last.

This + That – Citrus

That incredible-looking cake is actually inspired by Stella McCartney’s spring collection; Apollina created this Stella Cake (a Citrus Cake with Lemon Curd Filling and Orange Lemon Icing) with the collection in mind.

Friday Link Love: The Quasi-Rockstar Edition

This dress inexplicably has my heart all aflutter.  Really, it makes no sense – it’s an exaggerated body mullet; also, according to the outside world, I have no thighs, they’ve been safely hidden since 1999.  But I’m drawn, like a magpie to the light.  It’s dramatic and funky and I’m thinking it’s time to re-introduce squats into my lame excuse for an exercise regimen.  *Naturally, I’ll wear the dress/bodysuit hybrid with tights.  {Ulyana Sergeenko images courtesy of Vogue; found here.}

And while we’re on the subject of rockstar dressing, don’t miss this funky pairing on Glitter Weddings.  (Kicking myself for not rocking a blazer at my own wedding.) {Dress: Vera Wang // Jackets: JOSEPH Blazer // Malene Birger Courlan Blazer // Alexander McQueen Peplum Jacket // A.L.C. Fitted Blazer}

Currently obsessed (okay, always obsessed) with skulls.  I think I read too much Anne Rice as a youngster.  (In adulthood, it’s taken on a goth fashion spin.)  And now, I’m nose deep in the first of The Mortal Instruments series, City of Bones …. also obsessed. {Alexander McQueen Twin Skull Bracelet in Gold + Silver} {Image here}

Yes, I think Phil Collins is a rockstar.  Also, Phillip Phillips’ American Idol cover of “In the Air Tonight” is incredible.  Go on – watch it.

And lastly, wishing a very happy birthday to Dr. Seuss, whom I will forever adore. Thanks for giving my imagination a colorful jump-start.

Neon Pink + Nude

I’m a huge fan of converging colors and trends from different seasons, i.e., adding pops of bright color to winter neutrals.  And a few months go, Bobbi Brown released the Spring 2012 Neons and Nudes collection, and I swooned over the brights and neutrals.

The neon and nude trend of this past Fall + Winter – the nude color a nod to the cooler weather – but the hot pink (or any neon solid, really) draws us right into Spring.

The Blanket Wrap Cardigan

The title alone has me sold – before I’ve even delved into the luxe sweater that celebrities and trend-setters all wear, the gorgeous patterns and oh-so-soft textures – no, I was sold at wearable blanket.  These sweater coats are literally blankets with sleeves, and I own several.  Also known as wrap cardigans, these sweaters have an open front with a whole lot of draping down the center, in lieu of buttons, zippers, etc.  They’re absolutely perfect for travel, walks on the beach, trips to … well, anywhere.

But who am I kidding?  I wear mine for long days in the office, almost exclusively.  Hey, at least I get away with wearing a blanket!

Winter, Meet Spring

I love the idea of defying the season, and wearing brights despite the grey + cold.

When you search the racks for that next winter coat, do you reach for neutrals or the hot pink faux fur?  As a Miami native, I have little need for winter gear, but I like to keep 2 to 3 warmer coats for travel, of course.  One of those jackets is always a funkier pick.  A recent purchase?  The BB Dakota Bostwick Jacket (mine’s an older print, seen here.)
