Is It Summer Yet?

I miss summer. I miss smelling like chlorine and sunscreen, and coming home with red-stained popsicle mouth. I miss forgetting my bathing suit in the Ziploc bag in my Jansport for three days, only to find that rotten bathing suit is pretty nasty. I miss walking around with lanyard hanging from my belt loops and safety-pinned to my socks so as never to miss a friendship-bracelet-making opportunity. I miss flagpole and soffe shorts and rice krispie treats. I miss chipped nail polish and ring pops.  I wonder if summer camps hire lawyers.

What are your best summer memories?

I Mustache You A Question …

Hi dolls!  What are your weekend plans?

I plan to bake, eat, pretend to work on my fitness, dine with the fam at a new Vegas-style buffet (and set back all of my fitness momentum), hit up a farmer’s market, and attempt to write the book I’ve been “writing” for 5 years (that’s progress, people).

And now for your extra-tricky weekend DIY project:

Print above mustaches on plain white paper.  Choose your favorite mustache or match according to your Saturday night festivities.  Cut said mustache from paper.  Using lanyard or any string for that matter, glue, tape, or tie knots through ends of mustache and wear new mustache necklace like a stud.

Congrats – you’ve been moustachioed.

These pictures make me smile.  The sweatshirts, the hair, the goth kids.  I can hear the soundtrack to Clueless playing right now; cue David Bowie’s All The Young Dudes.  I love the 90s.  Also, I feel old.

Cookies On A Line

This is just too awesome not to share.  If you dream in cookies, and you live in San Francisco, cookies may be falling from the sky in your hood.  San Francisco entrepreneurs Eve, Kathleen and Clem of Fat Cookies deliver their oven-fresh cookies (baked in their second story apartment) to their customers below by way of a bag and string hoist.  Sadly, the Fat Cookies operation was shut down by the SFPD due to a lack of proper permits.  Damn the man, save the Empire.

But don’t fret – follow @eatfatcookies on Twitter to find out where they’re baking next.  And with clever facebook status updates such as “whether PERMITting, we’ll be back!”, I’d say these cookie entrepreneurs will be up and running in no time.”

Woodland Forest Party

I instantly fell for this woodland forest party set-up.  The fabric cushions and tree stump chairs equal perfection in my book.  This would be the perfect fairy princess party.  I don’t know why this whole scene reminds me of fairies, but it does.

And now for a shameless Maine plug …  I just found out that the place to visit in Maine, is the Coastal Maine Botanical Gardens in Boothbay.  A friend told me that in addition to the garden cooking series and the classes on home gardening, there is a class where kids learn to make a fairy garden.  Am I too old to play?
