Prabal Gurung Runway Jewelry

Backstage and across the runway at the 2012 Prabal Gurung shows, models were strewn with creepy crawly metal baubles – and oddly enough, I totally like it.  These semi-creepy cow skull jewels are a bizarre mix of “cowboys and aliens” and made for quite the statement on this year’s runway.

Don’t forget about The Limited $100 Giveaway!

Hand-Painted Cakes + Creative Outlets

I’m featuring these jaw-dropping hand-painted cakes over on Glitter Weddings today, but the stunning creations, by the oh-so-talented, Maggie Austin, were too cool not to share here.  Each of the former ballerina’s designs looks like a watercolor work of art; almost too good to eat … almost.  Maggie even offers a two-day intensive flower workshop in D.C. (where I desperately need to be.)

Also, I’ve noticed that the more I blog, i.e., delve into this unbelievably creative world, the more cities I want to visit and re-visit, and the more creative classes I desperately want to take.  In the past week alone I’ve considered pottery, cake painting, wire-wrapping, and novel writing.

Does anyone else have this problem?  Do you take classes “just for fun”?  Do you have the time or do you make the time?

OB-sessed with these star hair clips featured on the models’ glossy coifs at the recent Rodarte show.  The hair artists used star hair accessories from Rodarte on some girls, and rows of bobby pins on others.   I’m dreaming in DIY.

Introducing: Glitter Weddings

I know that I have been missing-in-action as of late, but that’s only because I have been slaving away (with the help of my uber-talented designer and a very supportive/hungry husband); but I’m proud to announce our love child: Glitter Weddings. Glitter Weddings is a glittering new wedding resource offering wedding inspiration for the modern bride who wants it all and wants to do it all.

The story goes a little something like this …

I married the love of my life last year, and for months before the big day, I reveled in spending all of my free time planning the kitschy-est wedding I could come up with. I pride myself on being tacky.  I am also a monumental overachiever – Type-A personality all the way.

When planning my own wedding, I scoured the wedding magazines and blogs, bookmarking and tearing out pages until my inspiration board was an encyclopedia rather than a corkboard. With Glitter Weddings, I hope to bring all of that drool-worthy inspiration to one place, and to convince the Bride who wants it all, that she can in fact have it all. With plenty of inspiration, dedication, and organization, your perfect wedding is completely achievable (with the occasional stress-reducing online impulse shoe buy … classified as “wedding therapy.”)

So scroll, click, and share (pretty please), and feel free to offer your thoughts, feedback, criticism (sent with cookies).  I hope you all love my latest pet project.  Fingers crossed that Glitter Weddings can and will grow into something great!

The Glittered Coif

Erica at Honestly…WTF posted these glittering pictures of the gold wigs backstage at Comme des Garçons.   I love how space-age these wigs look.  The stiff gold texture poof looks like a hairstyle Jane Jetson would step into her conveyer-belt-closet and appear on the other end wearing.

Also, I am definitely investing in a can of gold glitter hairspray.

NYFW Erin Fetherston

Like any devoted blogger/shopper, I have clicked through hundreds of gorgeous images from New York Fashion Week, thinking up one million posts about all of the glamour.  And then I stumbled upon Erin Fetherston’s latest collection and contemporary line, Erin.  Always a fan of “contemporary” collections (better known as an achievable price point), Erin’s new array was nothing short of perfect.  Feminine, frothy, and just plain lovely – the confections look sweet enough to eat.  Oooh, and that hair.  Love.
