Prabal Gurung Runway Jewelry

Backstage and across the runway at the 2012 Prabal Gurung shows, models were strewn with creepy crawly metal baubles – and oddly enough, I totally like it.  These semi-creepy cow skull jewels are a bizarre mix of “cowboys and aliens” and made for quite the statement on this year’s runway.

If you haven’t heard of the DANNIJO brand and designing duo (sisters Jodie and Danielle), you’re missing out. In addition to their jaw-dropping baubles, the pair took to design in this photo shoot for the Coveteur a few weeks back, and it’s just plain awesome.

The Alternative Valentine’s Day Gift Guide

I’m a big fan of February, and V-day in particular, but I’m not really a pink-heart-romper-wearing kind of girl. Though I’m as feminine as they get, I live for black, gold, studs, eyeliner, and rock ‘n roll.  As for our big night plans, I’ll be staying in this V-day with the hubby.  I guess when you’re working all day everyday, the sofa, a bottle of wine, and ice cream – those are the crème de la crème.

Four Finger Rings

These rings are the bomb-dot-com.  And yep, I just said that.  But I like them, I really, really like them.

Introducing the perfect set of rings by Maison Martin Margiela (silver and gold).  The set includes a bold ring for every finger, and each ring is fully expandable to ensure the perfect fit on each finger.

And if Maison Martin Margiela’s version is just a tad out of your price range … and mine (swallow sadness), check out these sweet alternatives at JewelMint.  And get $15 off your first JewelMint purchase with code: Miami96 – oh happy day!

Pyramid Stud Baubles

Pyramid studs were all the rage in the 90s – I may have bedazzled my bookbag with rhinestones, but I bedazzled ALL of my denim with pyramid stones.  These accessories, featuring the updated pyramid stud look, appeal to my now-grownup-chic inner-seventh-grader (sans red plastic glasses and unfortunate hair.)

Knee Socks + Boots

I am a tights kind of girl.  I wear tights in Winter, Spring, Summer, and Fall, and rarely feel an outfit is complete without them.  (Seriously, catch me in a bikini and tights – I have no shame.)  But knee-high socks (would also look slightly more appropriate with said bikini), this is something I could dive into – they afford knee coverage (Amen to that!) while looking bohemian and put-together all at the same time. Paired with the right knee-high boots, these knitted socks add just the right element of funky to any outfit.

What say you?  Will you rock the socks?

Friday Link Love

I cannot believe it’s December 9th already.  I cannot believe I have to start worrying about New Year’s Eve plans (which means I should have started to worry roughly four months ago.)  I cannot believe it’s almost 2012.  Seriously, feel free to picture my shock-face.

And since it’s time to panic RE: New Year’s … it’s also time to commence the futile dress hunt, where I will order, shop, and try on at least 30 dresses, and wind up wearing something black and short from my closet.  Also an observation on my just-now-begun dress hunt: ModCloth has nerdy chic down pat.  Love it. {Striking Gold Dress, Wish in the Wind Dress, Sparkle and Span Dress}

Do you think anyone will notice if I wear flats to the party?  What if my kicks are sparkly?  {How sweet are these Winter Glitz Collection Converse?}  I am a major heel enthusiast, but somehow, some way, every New Year’s Eve is spent walking the streets (likely looking for chicken nuggets) at three in the morning, and I just can’t bear another year of street stomping in five-inch heels.  Yep, I’m a baby.

This is too awesome not to share.  That is all.  {Spotted here.}

And this Creature Scarf via Anthropologie, with pale blue elephants, it’s love.

NOTE:  The Converse Winter Glitz Collection are part of a Sponsored campaign.  All thoughts, impressions, and writing are my own. xx  The Converse Winter Glitz are available in three fun colors Silver, Black, and Carmine (hot pink), to help you dress up any holiday outfit! They’re available at Nordstrom exclusively for the holiday season for $59.95!
