Since the MJ version scares the pants off of me (and I’m sticking with Nicole Richie’s anti-slut-oween costume mantra … a.k.a., pants on):  a prettier, happier version of Thriller

Like most of the world, I LOVE Halloween!  And as the Halloween-inspired posts roll in, I can’t help but smile.  I hope these do the same for you.

Allure goes straight to the makeup artists to give their best lessons for Halloween looks, and most of the inexpensive makeup looks are fairly easy to do.  #BecauseItsOkayToWaitUntilTheLastMinuteToComeUpWithAHalloweenCostume

For a chic Halloween costume alternative, Glitter-n-Glue’s got you covered.  Check out this DIY glitter skull sweatshirt – this piece combines all of my favorite things: DIY, glitter, skulls (because I think I’m punk), and sweatshirt forgiveness so that I can unabashedly consume Halloween treats.  An all around win.

This article had me laughing out loud.  Also, eerily true.  ‘Turning Tricks-for-Treats – the Most Inappropriate Kid Costumes on Sale This Halloween.

love, want, need = Red Shoes

When you grow up with brown hair, your childhood idols are princesses like Belle and Jasmine.  I was an old movie buff at the ripe old age of six, and so I fancied myself a Dorothy.  And naturally, I wanted red glittered mary janes to prove my allegiance.  Not much has changed in the last #$%*@^&)! years, and I continue to envy ruby red slippers – with precarious heels, luxe leathers, and big girl attitude.

Reese Witherspoon’s go-to necklace – an Irene Neuwirth rose gold large-link chain, and I’m smitten.  Perfect on its own or for layering, the heavy chain link necklace is perfect for Fall and season to come.

And because I don’t have several thousand dollars lying around for the real deal, a few chic alternatives:

Mostly, anything dalmatian print reminds me of Cruella DeVille of 101 Dalmatians infamy, but thankfully, today’s dalmatian prints harm no animals in the making, and are turning up on runway after runway looking rather chic.

Peter Pan Collar

A little bit of history:  The rounded collar, sometimes detachable, became popular in women’s and children’s clothing in the early- and mid-20th century.  Even today, the style channels an unmistakable vintage glamor vibe.

Michelle Williams (right) was photographed for the March 2011 issue of Interview wearing a detachable Peter Pan collar from Louis Vuitton’s Fall 2011 collection. For the July 2011 issue of Marie Claire, Elle Fanning (left) donned the same collar — and struck a similar pose.  Both photo shoots evoked a classic old Hollywood feel.  Tres chic.

ASOS is featuring the sweetest tops, dresses,  and attachable collars with feminine peter pan accents.

Grown-up Pouting

I’m having one of those days where I feel like my dress is tucked in my panties.  You know those days  when everything is going wrong, and it’s only inevitable that at some point in the day you’ll walk around for a good ten minutes with toilet paper stuck to your shoe.  Yeah, that’s today.  Pouting is healthy; of this I am (fairly) sure.

Also, I think I’ll start carrying a Polly Pocket in my purse.  The hours spent on my Iphone are making me twitchy and half blind.  I was much cooler in my Polly days.

And randomly, I’m envious of Rivers Cuomo’s daytime wear – striped pajamas are awfully appealing right now.

And with that … Rivers Cuomo of Weezer’s cover of ‘Brain Stew’ …
